At the beginning of the game, both players (white and black) have 16 pieces (8 pawns, 2 knights, 2 knights, 2 rooks, 1 queen, 1 king).

Chess - game rules and basics

Figures and their movements - each of the 6 different types of figures moves differently. Pieces cannot move over others (although the jumper can jump over them) and they can never be placed on a square already occupied by another piece of the same color.
  • King can move in all directions for one field. It must never find itself in a place attacked by any rival piece.
  • Queen is the strongest figure and can move unlimitedly in all directions: vertically, horizontally and diagonally, but cannot jump over figures.
  • TOP - moves unlimited vertically and horizontally and cannot jump over other figures.
  • Hunter - moves indefinitely on diagonals and cannot jump over other figures.
  • Jumper  is the only piece that can jump over another piece, its own or the opponent's. It moves in an L shape: two squares straight, then one square left or right, to either side.
  • Pedestrian moves exclusively forward. From the starting position, on the second row, he can move forward one or two squares, and after that only one square. He can only take the puck diagonally to the first court towards the front.

The goal of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king. Checkmate occurs when the king is in a position to be taken (in chess) and cannot escape the take.
