Devetka (officially: nine-ball) is one of the most widespread versions of billiards. Unlike eights and tens, players do not have to nominate their own shots, i.e. neither the balls they want to put in nor the holes provided for it. The player must make white contact with the "lowest" ball, although he does not have to putt in order. Since the balls on the table are numbered from 1 to 9, the unit is always placed at the head of the diamond at the start of each game for simplicity. The nine is placed in the middle of that formation to make winning from the opening shot as difficult as possible, while the other seven balls are placed randomly. It is won either by directly inserting the nine after all the other balls have been inserted or by "tying" the smallest ball and the nine. Therefore, it is possible to win with only one shot, which makes the back nine an extremely dynamic game.
