Agar.io game history

Matheus Valadares announced the game Agar.io on April 28, 2015. The then 19-year-old Brazilian developer wrote the game in a few days using JavaScript and C++. The game was announced without a name and users had to connect to Valadares' IP address to play. Only later did an anonymous user suggest the name "Agar.io". A week later, Matheus continued to add new features to the game. Agar.io entered Steam Greenlight. Steam Greenlight is a brilliant experiment in supporting independent PC game developers: a cheap and easy way for creators to gain access to the world's largest game distribution platform.

Initially, feedback was mixed. Some praised the game for its simplicity and game mechanics. Fans of the game even described the game as "a good abstraction of the fierce competition for survival of the fittest that you sometimes see on a microscopic level". However, there were strong criticisms of the simple gameplay. Still, Agar.io quickly became a success, mostly because it was often promoted through social media and broadcast on Twitch.tv and YouTube. The mobile version of the game was downloaded over ten million times in their first week, and in 2015, Agar.io is Google's most searched video game. In the same year, it was even listed as the fifth best game on YouTube's best games list. Funnily enough, Agar.io was also featured in the Netflix TV series House of Cards!

Agar.io skins

If you've played this game, you've probably seen them before. The skin in the game changes the background of the station according to a certain image, depending on which one you have chosen. In order to use the skin on Agario, you will need to enter your station's name on a certain phrase before entering and playing the game. For those who don't want to use a regular color station while playing Agar.io, choose one of the skins the game offers. The Agar.io skin does not affect your gameplay, although some players in the game may specifically target players with a certain type of skin.

IO games the genre just started with the release of the insanely addictive game agar.io (probably inspired by another game called "Osmos"). Agario grew so fast that within months it infected hundreds of thousands of players worldwide. What made this game so unique was that it was a very interesting style. Unlike most games in the past, it was designed to be played in a full-screen browser window and was fully multiplayer. This set the stage for many other .io games to hit the internet in the months to come. This version of the game is translated for players coming from the Balkans: Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia.
