Rummy multiplayer (Rummy 51)
Remi is a popular card game, and it is played in various variants all over the world. The rummy version that is played in our area is Rummy 51 version, and it is named so because for opening it is necessary to collect a sum of cards of 51 or more. In all variants of the game, including this one, the goal is to get rid of all the cards before the other players. Rummy is not an easy game, but once you've mastered the rules, you'll be glad you learned to play it.

Rummy - rules of the game

The goal of the game is to get rid of all the cards. The player who plays first starts with 15 cards and must discard one card he does not need. After that, the rule is that each player must buy one card and discard the one he doesn't need. The opening is done by placing on the table in front of you complex valid groups of cards face up, the sum of which must be 51 or higher. Cards 10, 12, 13, 14 and aces count as 10 points, and the other cards in their value. A valid group of cards when shown must have at least 3 cards, and groups can be of two types. A group can consist of cards of the same number, but of different symbols. Such a group cannot have two cards with the same sign, so such a group can have 3 or at most 4 cards. Another type of group is an increasing sequence of cards of the same sign. For example 1♣ 2♣ 3♣ 4♣ or 13♥ 14♥ 1♥. And this group must have at least 3 cards and there is no limit to how many cards it can have. Such ascending or ascending groups may start with an ace and end with an ace. The ace does not go after the ten, but after the king, and after the ten in a row the boy goes. So after a king and an ace, you can't set a deuce. Jokers can replace any card in groups and their value is calculated depending on which card they replace in that group. At the beginning, a group can only have one joker. To open, the sum of exposed cards in groups must be 51 or higher. Here's an example of two groups that add up to exactly 51 that you can open with: 6♠ 7♠ 8♠ and 10♦ 10♣ 10♥. In our game, there is a display area that is located in the middle of the table and all players from their group are displayed there. Before opening you must draw/buy one card from the top of the deck and after opening you must discard one card to the discard pile. Once you open (discarded groups that add up to 51 or more), you get the option to add your cards to other players' open groups that are open. For example, if someone has thrown a 3♠ 4♠ 5♠ deck and you have a 2♠ or a 6♠, you can add that card to that deck to get rid of the other card. Remember, the goal of the game is to get all your cards out. If the group contains a joker and you have a card that the joker replaces, then you can trade your card for the joker and use it to create a new group to discard. Once opened, you can always drop another group when you create it. When it's your turn to play, you must buy one card. You can take a card from the pile of remaining cards that are face down or from the pile of discarded cards that players throw. If you are drawing from the discard pile, then it is the card that was discarded by the player before you. There are several rules regarding taking a card from the discard pile. In your first round, you are free to take a card if it suits you. In each subsequent round, if you take a card from here, you must open. And the third rule is that after opening you can freely take a card from any pile. To end the game, you must discard the last card you have in your discard pile. You cannot add the last card in your hand to someone else's deck.

Draw - scoring

The game ends when one of the players discards his last card. That player gets -40 points. If the player gambled, he gets -80 points. There is also a rule related to the card that the player who cuts the deck at the beginning draws and places under all other cards. This card can be used in handing and the player can take it only if he starts to hand. If a player cheats like this, he gets -120 points. Somewhere -140 is calculated for this victory, but that is all a matter of agreement before the start of the game. The remaining cards are added to the other players and the values of the cards are calculated as during the opening. If someone has a joker left in their hand, it counts +20, and some even count it +50 as a penalty. If the player did not open, +100 is written to him. If one of the players cheats, the points are doubled for the other players. This also means that players who do not open get double in that case, i.e. +200.

Rummy - terminology

Opening - is the most important step to win in the Rummy 51 version of the game. To open, the player must reveal valid groups totaling 51 or more and discard one card he does not need. After that, the player is considered open and gets the opportunity to add cards to the already exposed groups of cards.

The correct set of cards - In order for the player to open, valid groups of cards should be placed on the table. A valid group must contain at least 3 cards. There are two types of valid card groups: Sets and Sets.

A series of cards - Sequences are groups of cards arranged in ascending sequence that must be of the same sign. An example of a correct sequence is 2♣ 3♣ 4♣. The only rule related to sequences is that 1 cannot follow 2 if there was a king before the unit. For example, the sequences 13♥ 14♥ 1♥ and 1♥ 2♥ 3♥ are valid, but the sequence Q♥ K♥ 1♥ 2♥ is not valid.

Sets of cards - are groups of cards of the same number, but of different characters. An example set is 10♦ 10♣ 10♥. Sets cannot have two cards of the same sign and can contain a maximum of 4 cards. A deck of 4 cards is called a closed deck and no more cards can be added to it. In our game, closed sets will be dimmed.

Dealing - A player's victory is called Dealing if he throws all groups of cards on the table at once and ends up with one remaining card. In order for the player to deal, it does not matter from which pile he took the card. If a player wishes to hand, then he may not add any of his cards to another player's exposed pool during the opening.
